-Husbands to love their wives “as Christ loved the church, and gave himself up for her†(Eph. 5:25)
-Wives to find fulfillment in joyful submission to their husbands
-Parents (particularly fathers) to disciple their children, even when resisted
-Children to honor their parents with obedience and love
-Singles to plan ways to support their family and the families in the church
Self-Sacrifice in the Church
“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers†(1 John 3:16).
-Seeking out and eagerly embracing opportunities to serve
-Coming with hearts for the “spiritual worship†of presenting our bodies (Rom. 12:1)
-Generous giving that declares, “I count everything as loss because of the
surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord†(Phil. 3:8)
-Spirit of love to mark our relationships — bearing one another’s burdens through serving, prayer and intercession, and words of encouragement from the Scriptures
