“Growing Together for the Glory of God”

Growing

-Godliness and fruit of the Spirit
-Witness and boldness
-Passion for and knowledge of the Word
-Passion for and practice of prayer
-Experience of the Spirit
-Unity and mission-minded zeal as a local church
…The building issues, the giving of the church
…Sensing God’s direction as we step out in faith

Together

-Greater experience of the “one accord” of Acts and the early church
-Covenant groups would be strengthened
…Marked by genuine and deepening relationships
…That more of those who gather on Saturdays would participate
-Families and singles would be giving and receiving encouragement from one another
-That the dynamics of Body ministry would be strengthened as all find their place and role and use their gifts to build up the Body

For the Glory of God

-God’s Kingdom would come in our midst
-That God would reveal himself in such a way that ever member of the church would be “volunteers in the day of his power” (Ps. 110.3)
-That the mission we have together would be driven by a passion for God’s glory to be experienced and made known

“Let Your Kingdom Come”

“Pray then like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6.9-10).

Kingdom of God: Men rising up and standing strong

-Specifically, for an enduring work of the Spirit among our men
-That general absence of male leadership in Church at large would turn around
-That our young men (even boys) would be invested with spiritual truth and deep experiences of God so that they become pillars in the church
-That the things that pull men away from their calling – laziness, apathy, sports, lust, toys, jobs – would not dull the edge of radical Kingdom living and exemplary leadership among singles and in families

Kingdom of God: Servant-mindedness and humility

-That the church would be marked by humility and Servanthood
…As we lay our lives down for each other
…As we look for opportunities for mutual strengthening
…As we look for ways to use the gifts God has given us
-Against selfishness and individualism
-Against self-righteousness and spiritual competitiveness
-That we would see God’s glory and experience the kind of humility that is not parroted or pretended but is genuinely self-forgetting and Godward-focused
-That leadership would be marked by genuine humility – that God would take the church into deeper experiences of the blessedness of “possessing nothing”

Kingdom of God: Extending the Kingdom tent-posts outward

-The Alpha Course – God, save! Spirit, fill!
-Strength from the Spirit to adequately care for those with whom we have connected through Operation Replant
-The Pivot ministry – Lord, grant us a presence on our city’s campuses!
-Church as a whole to fulfill the call to be “fishers of men”

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18).

In our personal times of pray, it is very easy to become overly focused on our personal and local needs and neglect to intercede for what God is doing abroad. One resource that is very helpful is Operation World. This website features a new country from the “10 40 Window” each day, giving information about that particular country that will help fuel your prayers.
