Alpha Retreat (this morning)

-God, save!
-Spirit, fill!
-People would be drawn to continue fellowship as we transition to Beta
-AJ & Darlene Dicharry – that God would give them faith and resources to serve Beta members effectively

Relationships

-Singles feeling called to marriage
…Particularly women – grace from God, battle against anxiety
-Single men continue to mature & get to place of marriage-readiness
…Responsibility, diligence, spiritual consistency, stability, then…
…Boldness to take the next step toward marriage
-Relationships that are in tension right now
…God would build a community that knows how to speak redemptively to each other – in grace, in love, in confession & repentance, in depth and candor, in biblical forgiveness

House of Prayer

-Spirit of intercession to break out in the Body
-Those who have struggled with consistency to find new season of favor and grace to pray
-Increase of faith, experience of answers to prayer
-Greater sense of locking into the purposes of God and advancing God’s kingdom through prayer
-Greater presence and urgency in corporate prayer
-Passion to reclaim the important disciplines of fasting and making warfare

Functional Membership

-Greater appreciation of the importance of the gathering

“Multi-Generational Growth”

“One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. …They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds” (Ps. 145.4, 6)

Children

-Parents to effectively train them in the formative years
…Consistent discipline
…“Shepherding” the heart
…Forming a “God-entranced worldview”
-Older children would be discipled & led to genuine faith
-Hearts of teenagers to be postured toward their parents
-Youth to be protected from temptation, rabid sensuality, & peer influence

Families & Singles

-Our church to see the manifestation of “he sets the solitary in a home” (Ps. 69.6)
-Families & Singles to be proactive in their pursuit of each other
-Our homes to be characterized by Kingdom-living and self-sacrifice
-Parenting, evangelism, and mercy-ministries to be viewed as community projects and not solitary affairs

Elderly

-Elderly in our church to maintain a sense of God’s mission and to discern where God has called them in this season of life
-The mature to invest in the next generation and “pass the baton of faith”
-Those who have been long-time members of our church to experience God’s pleasure in their persevering commitment to his people
-Those who find themselves beginning to say “I have fought to good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith” to know that there is a “crown of righteousness” laid up for them (2 Tim. 7-8).

Over the month of October, please dedicate some of your prayer times to focus on this month’s mission emphasis (Russia). (Information excerpted from Operation World, calendar targets).

Targets for Prayer (cont.):

Godly Christian evangelical leaders are too few. Lack of training in the past, lack of funding today, and the loss of many through emigration contribute to this lack. Foreigners cannot fill the gap, but can assist in strengthening local churches and their leadership. The needs:

a) Biblical leadership patterns. Authoritarian leadership is a legacy of Russia’s past as is the lack of theological depth. The results are petty legalisms, unquestioned authority, and theological ‘fads’.

b) Systematic teaching and expository preaching through the Bible is rare. Pray for the many new theological institutions — most of US or Korean origin. There were 120 known in 1998.
